Our local, the Martin’s Arms, is a treat, whether you pop in for a quick jar, or book an evening of fine dining. It’s located in a Grade 2 listed building in the heart of the village situated at the corner of a quiet leafy cul-de-sac by the old cross.
Its long been a focus of village life. Back in the 1640s it was a hotbed of gossip and intrigue. In her memoirs Lucy Hutchinson from Owthorpe Hall, wife of Roundhead Colonel Hutchinson, writes of the “papist plots” being discussed in the Alehouse.
Nowadays its best know for fine dining. It has won the Nottinghamshire Dining Pub of the Year Award every year from 2012 to 2016 and is recommended by Michelin, Sawdays, Camra & the AA guides.
